Edit Selections

In the Edit Mode screen you can edit your movie database selections, add video files, enter new movies, add cover art, and perform a number of other tasks.

Title

The Title may (even, should) contain the Year of movie as well. For example, "Movie Title (2000)". This helps a great deal when searching for the movie info and other tasks.

Click the blue arrow to drop the Title Menu:

Get Movie Info:

CineCenter will search for the Movie Info and Cover Image for the Title that is entered. The movie title will be searched for on CCDb and if the movie info is not found, a subsequent search is performed on IMDb.

Certain titles can sometimes be difficult to find with a simple text-based search of the Title. If you cannot find movie info for a title, or the wrong movie info is retrieved, you can also search for the IMDb ID number by entering it into the Title field instead of the movie title.  The IMDb ID is the number found at the end of an IMDb URL. Use the number after "/tt".

Example:

IMDb URL: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104257/

IMDb ID#: 0104257

CineCenter will attempt to retrieve the movie info replacing the IMDb ID with the movie title.

NOTE: If for some reason CineCenter still was unable to find the movie info for a title and you've entered the movie info manually, please use Submit to CCDb so that you won't have to enter it manually in the future.

Go To/Enter IMDb (URL):

This allows entering the IMDb URL if one is not found, or will open the CineCenter Web Browser to view the IMDb page for the current title.

Switch Title, The:

Use this to switch titles that begin with the word, 'The'. Doing so will prevent those titles all being alphabetically grouped under 'T'. The View screen will still display 'The Title' for easier readability.

Save Title Edits:

Use this any time you make a change to the Title text.

Submit to CCDb:

If you have entered a movie that CineCenter could not find automatically, by all means, submit the title for inclusion into CineCenter's Online Database.  It takes only a couple seconds to submit a title and your contributions will help CineCenter grow and make title searches easier for all CineCenter users. Note: No personal information is transferred... Ever!

Year

The year the movie was released.

Actors

Displays the first 6 actors listed in the movie.

Directors

The director(s) of the movie. Oftentimes, directors have a certain style in film making. With this in mind, you can perform searches for a certain director, finding all the movies they have directed.

Genre

Enter the Genre, or type of movie here. These Genres are very helpful in searching for movies.

Entering "Action, Adventure", for example, will help find all movies of that type in a search.

Use the Genere Selector to choose from the predefined list. You can make multiple selections by holding down the Control Key while clicking Genres in the list.

Rated

This is the MPAA rating of the movie. (G, PG, PG-13, NC-17, R, etc.).  You can chose an MPAA rating from the Rating Menu.

Runtime

The length of the movie. Entering the length of a movie in mins will display what time the movie ends.

"Ends at: Hr:Min AM/PM" will be displayed by clicking the blue glass clock button left of the Play Button in the View Screen.

Make sure the first characters entered here are NUMBERS, (movie length in minutes), followed by the abbreviation, "mins".

Example: "120 mins"

Keywords

In this field, enter single words that best describe this Selection. These Keywords, similar to Genre, are very useful when searching for specific types of movies later. Used in combination with Genre, Keywords can help produce more detailed search results.

Click the Down Arrow to choose from a list of Moods that can help create Keywords. For example, if a movie is 'campy' or 'cerebral', choosing those Moods from the list will help searching for specific types of movies later.

* TIP: Enter the Keyword "LOANED" into this field to help keep track of DVDs that you have loaned out to friends and family. Searching for the Keyword "LOANED" will display all the DVDs that you have loaned out.

* TIP: You can also use this field for creating your own wishlist of movies you do not yet own. For example, enter the word 'WishList' into the keywords and, when you search later for the keyword 'WishList', all those movies will be sorted and displayed...

Outline

Enter the Description, Plot, Outline of a movie here. Generally, 425-500 characters fits nicely onto the screen-space. The character counter to the left of this field will help you keep track of the size.

* TIP: You can also enter Keywords here as well. These keywords can be used for more effective searches later!

Movie File

Choose the Video File for this movie. Typically, WMV, AVI, MPG, DivX, and Xvid formats are most common.

CineCenter will also play .ISO images of DVDs and play them in the CineCenter DVD Player just as if they were a DVD disc.

  *  If this Selection is on a DVD, Right-Click the Select Button to set the Movie File as "DVD".

Trailer File

Choose Trailer File:

Choose a Video File from your hard disk to use as the Trailer for this movie. Typically, FLV, WMV, AVI, MPG, DivX, and Xvid formats are most common.

Open Get FLV Wizard:

A lot of Trailers on the web are in FLV format. You can use the "Get FLV's" utility to add these trailers to CineCenter!

After you've viewed a Trailer in the CineCenter Web Browser, for example, open the Get FLV utility to move that file into CineCenter's FLV Folder.

Search YouTube Trailers:

A search will be performed on YouTube for the Movie Title of the current selection.

Get YouTube Video:

Enter the URL of a YouTube video page and CineCenter will download the FLV file to the location you specify.

Cover Image

Choose a DVD Cover, or Movie Poster image file for this Title.  Press the Select Button, (or right-click the image), to use the Image Menu...

Select an Image from Disk:

Use the File Selector to choose a JPG, BMP, GIF, or PNG, cover art image from your local hard disk drive. A new Thumbnail will be created for the Image File you select.

Open in Image Editor:

Edit the current image in your Photo Editor application* to resize or alter this image to your liking.  If you Save the image with the same filename, CineCenter will attempt to automatically Reload this new image creating a new Thumbnail.

* Enter your Photo Editor into Options > Locations

Resize:

This will open a Resize Image dialog.

Click the Up/Down arrows to resize the image to the desired Width and Height. Right clicking these arrow buttons will adjust the image in 10-pixel increments.

Check "Maintain Aspect Ratio" to adjust the image Width/Height automatically.

Click the Preview Image to view your changes. Press "OK" to save your changes.

Get Image Automatically:

CineCenter will attempt to locate a Poster or DVD Cover based on the Title of the Current Selection. If found, a Confirmation Dialog will appear and display the found image for your evaluation before entering into your Collection.

Google DVD Images:

Using CineCenters internal WebBrowser, a search for DVD Covers will be performed at Google Images for the Title of the Current Selection. Save any image you find into the Cover Images folder using the same filename as the original, (based on the Title of the Selection).

The recommended filename of the Cover Image will be copied to the Windows Clipboard for you. Use this for saving any found image to CineCenter's Cover Images folder by pasting the filename into the browsers Save As dialog.

Upon closing the Web Browser and returning to Edit Mode, CineCenter will attempt to automatically Reload this new image creating a new Thumbnail.

Check for Backdrop Image:

A Backdrop is a background image for a given Movie Title. If an image is found in the Backdrops folder named exactly the same as the Title of the current selection, the Backrop will appear as the current selections background image. Check for Backdrop Image will download available Backdrops allowing you to preview the images before adding them to your Backdrops folder.

NOTE: If you change the Movie Title from it's original title name (as found when searching CCDb) a backdrop image will most likely NOT BE FOUND.

Contribute Your Custom Backdrops: As of this writing, the Backdrop Library on CCDb is relatively small -- a work in progress. The Backdrop Library is a contribution-driven feature of CineCenter. If you create your own backdrop images and would like to contribute to the library you can do so easily by choosing Submit Backdrop Image from the Image Select Menu.

Google Wallpaper Images:

This is handy if you want to create your own custom Backdrop image. A search for Wallpaper will be performed at Google Images for the Title of the Current Selection. Using an image editor, crop out the desired section of an image and save it to the CineCenter\Backdrops folder named exactly the same as the Movie Title that was found in searching movie info on CCDb.

  Example:

   Title: "The Movie Title (2009)"

   Image: "The Movie Title (2009).jpg".

If you would like to contribute your custom Backdrop creations, making them available from the "Check for Backdrop Image" menu for all CineCenter users, simply attach the image file to an email to: ccdbsubmit@cinecentersoftware.com. Your contributions are greatly appreciated!
